Bakery buns part 2

Ella was great at making our bakery buns too! Her photo got missed off the first post.

Meeting Samuel Pepys!

We travelled back in time this morning to 1666! It was amazing because Samuel Pepys was here! He told us all about the fire and where it started.

Samuel Pepys also told us how awful the Lord Mayor was and that he didn't want to blow up houses to create a fire break, because he was worried he would have to pay for them. He told us how he watched all the people in the streets trying to get away from the fire and to the Thames.

We learned lots from Samuel Pepys, but we were also able to amaze him with all the facts that we know!

Thomas Farynor's Bakery Buns!

We made some buns today like the ones they would have had in 1666. We all thought they were scrumptious! You can find the recipe here . Enjoy them!

A special visitor!

Mr Hartman came this afternoon and taught us how to sign 'Away in a manger!' Look how good we were at it!

Class 1 and 2 visit the church

We went to the church today to learn about belonging to the church. We took part in a Baptism so we could understand how people show that they belong to the Christian family. 

We had parents and godparents.

The first thing we did was light a candle and pray. 

We learned that there are three symbols for Baptism,  the cross, oil and holy water. Sarah put a cross of oil on the baby's head. 

Then we all made crosses with the oil.

The baby was then taking to the font for the Holy Water. 

Our baby was named Lou Lou in the ceremony. She was very well behaved!

We learned a lot about the church too and became detectives, finding out lots of clues about belonging to the church. 

More film making!

The actors have been great! They have been given some great directions too, like 'Look really scared!'

We watched some on the interactive white board. We told the film makers what we thought wa fabulous about their film, then gave tips on how to improve next time.

We started work on our Great Fire of London films today. We learned about giving directions to actors and how to use the iPads to create our films.

Is it true that the bigger your feet the further you can jump?

We have been investigating with measures in class 2! We are great at measuring to the nearest cm. We found out that foot size has nothing to do with how far you can jump.
